Malana village, India

Heard of these names? People from north india must have, but only about Malana.

Malana is an ancient village to the north-east of Kullu Valley. This solitary village in the Malana Nala, a side valley of the Parvati Valley, is isolated from the rest of the world. The majestic peaks of Chandrakhani and Deotibba shadow the village.

And Kalash or Kalasha, are indigenous people of the Hindu Kush mountain range, residing in the Chitral District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

It’s noteworthy from tourism aspect. But the mystery lies in the debate about the people residing here. As such, historical facts seem to erupt eternal debates (least we get to the black hole someday to trace back past), which is fantastic from argument sake. nothing is conclusive, yet u keep on debating…

one such debate presides on these two unique locales… that got me delving into the researches and stories told so far… leme break the ice first!

According to one of the legends about their origin, it is believed that the inhabitants of Malana are the descendants of Greek soldiers of Alexander’s army. As the legend goes, some soldiers took refuge in this remote land after Alexander left the country and later settled there permanently.

This myth is however disputed because there are those who claim that it is the valley of Kalash, in Pakistan that is actually the area in which Alexander the Great’s soldiers took refuge.

a young kalash boy seen in the picture, do u find any striking similarity with greeks? (google it)

i’m still researching, and i’ll travel to malana soon to understand it first hand.
